Center for Genetic Resources and Life Sciences Law

 

The Center for Genetic Resources and Life Sciences (the Center) is a research institute of Ghent University with its roots in the Faculty of Law.
Research focus is on the international law and policy of biological diversity, genetic and biological resources, genomic and other omics data, innovation and intellectual property in the life sciences.
Within the scope of biodiversity and life science law, particular attention is paid to access and benefit-sharing for genetic resouces, and relevant intellectual property law.
Research at CGRLS-UGent is often of a multidisciplinary nature due to the collaboration with other research groups of Ghent University and around the world (see
GRLS@UGent)
The institute is also internationally known for its collaboration with United Nations specialized agencies, as well as for cooperation with many other European and international research institutes and universities.
